The "Pancake Rocks" of Punakaiki, New Zealand.

One of my first scan attempts (unfortunately, I captured the whole trip on slide material, and now I'm getting desperate to save them to the digital age).

Never heard about this place, they are amazing formations :) I have seen only one rock like one of these and it was made of sandstone.

These are apparently made of sediments from the sea, and they are a big tourist attraction in New Zealand, appropriately named "Pancake Rocks". During high tide, the sea churns in and through them and there are blowholes where the water explodes through. It's a magical experience.

Lovely :) I worked in Te Nikau hostel, half a mile from there, for a month in 2006. The west coast was my favourite place.

Wow, you were lucky! :-) I agree, the West Coast is a beautiful place. I couldn't decide which region I liked the most, they all had their wonderful aspects - the Volcano plateau, Coromandel, Queenstown and Wanaka... impossible to say. All of NZ is a natural wonder.

There is a similar rock formation in Andalucia its called El Torqual and is located near Antequera!

Which percentage of your slides is already digitalized?

Uhm... I've scanned about 100 of 4,000. :-o So yeah, still a lot of work to do.

This is not even the top solution (1800 dpi, it can get to 7200 dpi, but my computer can't handle that). Would the quality be sufficient for you?

Thank you. That was pretty much the first sight I got of New Zealand, and I fell in love with the rich blue and green tones. Whether it is the country's clean air or the hole in the ozone layer that's the reson, I don't know, but I know that I've never seen such colours before.
